Biography

Praised for her flexible, shimmering tone and glittering coloratura confidence, Singaporean soprano Ashley Chua is a Melbourne-based artist recognised for her work across Australia and Singapore.

She has performed as a soloist with companies including Victorian Opera, Freeze Frame Opera, New Opera Singapore, The Opera People, and The Mad Scene Singapore. Her operatic roles include La Fée (Cendrillon), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Poppea (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Geraldine (A Hand of Bridge), Diane (Orpheus in the Underworld), Sesto (Giulio Cesare), Miles (The Turn of the Screw), and First Wood Sprite (Rusalka).

Ashley holds a Master of Music (Opera Performance) from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and a Bachelor of Music (Classical Voice) from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where she graduated among the top of her cohort. She was also a 2024/25 artist with Opera Scholars Australia.

An award-winning singer, Ashley has won First Place in both the Royal Over-Seas League and the North of Perth Music Festival, as well as Second Place in the Opera Scholars Australia Aria Competition.
